Solution Lift Pile

Novatek’s MP60 micropile technology
is an advanced solution for consolidating and raising foundations and soils.

The first phase of the intervention involves drilling a ø 64 mm core hole vertically through the existing foundation of the building to the ground below. On either side of the coring, two ø 26 mm holes are drilled that do not totally cross the foundation, into which two threaded rods are cemented, which are used as anchors in the next phase (MICROPAL INFIXION)

The second stage involves the placement of a first micropile module (which has a length of 1.0 m) inside the core drill and the subsequent screwing of other modules thanks to the internal threading of the micropiles.
The penetration depth depends on:

  • The load-bearing capacity of the building, as determined by the construction design;
  • The attainment of a bearing soil layer such that the maximum infusion pressure (rejection) of the hydraulic piston of the infixer is reached.

The third stage involves the connection of NOVATEK hydraulic jacks, which, through a mechanical precess allow controlled lifting of the building. This delicate process is constantly monitored by our specialized technicians through state-of-the-art HILTI-branded equipment. The lift achieved can overcome even building inclinations of more than 60 cm, as our CASE HISTORY demonstrates.

The fourth stage, in order to restore the foundation’s contact with the soil after uplift and fill any voids formed over time, involves the use of expanding polymers or other materials such as lightened cement or compressed gravel. The choice among these depends on an internal study conducted by our engineering pool specifically for each individual project.

The fifth stage of intervention involves milling the threaded rods at the pavement level and placing a tie rod (or preloading device, if micropile preloading was required/possible) on the head of the last infilled micropile module. The final connection to the existing foundation is made by cementing with a special mortar according to DIN EN 1504-3, class R4.
